If the Jazz ever played in Venice (Italy, not the beach) she would love to go with them and then make the time to take in the sights like a normal tourist would,

RoboSavvy Ltd. develops robotic solutions and provides sales of robotic parts for research and DIY projects. They sell robots that they designed themselves, develop robots for other companies, and provide many open-source resources for hobbyists and students to step into robotics. RoboSavvy has a special interest in humanoid robots and autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs).
Last year we made a part for RoboSavvy’s TUGBOT, an autonomous heavy courier. The TUGBOT is capable of lifting up to 250 kg (~550 lbs) of product and navigating it in indoor or outdoor environments. It’s self-driving, self-charging, and can coordinate with other robots to solve problems. This makes it very useful in a warehouse or factory environment, where they can carry heavy loads across long distances and through difficult areas. Our sensors help this robot stay safe and keep human workers out of harm’s way.
Here’s a video demonstrating the TUGBOT: https://youtu.be/e4rZODmsSxw?si=LzcDEC9lqogs9y2l
You drop everything else. You focus night and day on that one thing. When your back is up against the wall you gotta figure out how to move the wall back. You do whatever it takes because people’s livelihoods are on the line. Take the hill! You gotta take the hill.
Ah-h-h-h, there's nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than to take an ice-cold bottle of Coke out of the cooler, with the small ice chunks and water dripping off of it, so cold that you can see the cold mist rolling from the bottle and popping off the bottle cap and chugging the ice-cold liquid down your throat and into your stomach!
I love that iconic Coke bottle shape, with its curvy lines and slender neck. The only problem is, that slender neck can truly put a damper on a good chug. Wouldn't it be nice to get the same refreshing drink while getting more of it through the neck faster and without accidentally suctioning your tongue to the opening of the bottle!
Similar to the volume of refreshing ice-cold liquid waiting inside to make it through that slender neck of the Coke bottle, a manufacturing process can become a bottleneck when it is fed a volume of work larger than its maximum capacity.
The best example I can think of for a bottleneck at Spectra Symbol is the Spartanics Machine. At one point, every printed sheet that was produced at Spectra Symbol had to go through the Spartanics Machine where at least 12 holes had to be punched by that machine. Now multiply that by the number of sheets and the number of print jobs on the schedule and there were times that machine could have run 24/7 and still not stayed caught up. To make the issue worse, we can't even expand the capacity by purchasing another machine as that design has been obsoleted and we'd have to re-tool to utilize different equipment.
By understanding our limitations with the Spartanics Machine, Spectra Symbol has been able to address the issue and today we have begun the process of phasing out that piece of equipment and replacing it with a different process of creating those same registration features in a manner that both meets today's needs and can be expanded as needed in the future.
In like manner, Spectra Symbol needs all of our employees looking at our processes and finding where materials, people, time, or other resources are backing up at a bottleneck and finding solutions that can improve or exploit it.
The following is a link to a quick resource I found for identifying bottlenecks and how to best utilize them: HERE
If you have any questions or ideas about identifying, eliminating, or exploiting a current bottleneck in our system, please get with your supervisor or Ron Cossey and let's see what we can do to Kaizen it and move forward! Kaizen FOREVER!
